One of the longest-running Junior Landcare groups in the country, Wooragee Junior Landcare in Victoria started at the same time that Wooragee Landcare was formed more than 30 years ago – by people who were passionate about children and the environment.
Fourteen-year-old Django Westmoreland from Goolwa, South Australia, loves the natural world, especially birds and their environments.
Thanks to their Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant, Plumpton Public School was able to renew their Yarning Circle area with native plants and create habitats for local insect life.
Through their fantastic Sustainability Trail project, the Eco Warriors at Holland Park State School constructed gardens around the school to increase biodiversity and engage fellow students in learning about native animals and their habitats.
Thanks to their Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant, Merindah Children’s Centre in Wallsend, NSW, set about planting native herbs and plants to help children learn more about different species of plants, and their connection to the land and its people.
