The range of applications was outstanding, showcasing a wide variety of projects for children of all ages. Here are a few examples of the successful applications…
Students from St. Francis Xavier Primary School are going to transform an underused, waterlogged patch into a beautiful Miyawaki Forest with their “Little Forest, Big Impact” project!
Congratulations to Daylesford Dharma School. We really admire how committed those River Detectives are to improving Smiths Creek in the heart of Cornish Hill Wetland.
1st Reservoir Scouts are getting ready for an epic nature adventure! Fascinating Frog workshops, community native planting, animal incursions, CERES visits, zoo trips, hiking, drawing, and snorkelling await! Just thinking about their year ahead makes us tired!
Finally, Nagle College students will soon discover endangered Burraunan dolphins living in the Mitchell River, right next to their college! Their focus is regional biodiversity and the importance of river revegetation for wildlife.
The 2025 funding will provide young Victorians with unique, hands-on biodiversity experiences and learning opportunities within their local communities.
The grants also contribute to the targets of Protecting Victoria’s Environment – Biodiversity 2037, the Victorian Government’s plan to stop the decline of our native plants and animals and improve our natural environment.
We know these applications and projects take time, dedication and huge amounts of effort so we thank all educators, teachers and other landcare experts who support these projects; from submitting a grant application through to making sure they come to life in the following months. The young people of Victoria will get to learn and experience some amazing environmental projects in their local communities – it would not happen without you!
