Science and Environmental education has been my passion and focus for the last 18 years. I’m a teacher, Junior Landcare Facilitator (I wear a lot of other hats too!) and I started working with Landcare Australia last year to help develop some resources for the Junior Landcare program.
Over the last few years Junior Landcare has worked with a number of educators, consultants and environmental experts to develop the Learning Centre activities and launch the Educator Hub. I have been really excited to have the opportunity to share some of my knowledge and lessons by helping write some Learning Centre activities.
Most recently I’ve helped develop a lesson about Building a Nest Box and Planting Beneficial Gardens. My area of interest has a really strong focus on the environmental sciences and making complex subjects accessible.
Sometimes here at Junior Landcare, strange things keep us up at night. Sometimes, those things are fun, like going on spotlight walks and surveying nocturnal animals, other times, it can be a bit trickier, like wondering how we can do better. I’m going to be helping the team out with some thoughts and ideas as we progress with a review of our Learning Centre.
Recently, we conducted a Junior Landcare Educator Survey and invited your feedback on how you plan your programs and access resources. Your feedback will help us know what gaps we could fill, what resources we could create and what you would like to see in an Educator Hub.
So like a student who is bringing the draft of their work to the teacher, for critique, feedback and improvement, we asked for your input. After we have looked at the survey results we would love to invite you to a webinar to find out more about what you do and how you access resources, so please keep your eye out for that and I hope to see you ‘round the traps.
