The Great Frog Choir, created by Ginninderra Catchment Group through its FrogWatch program, is helping young readers tune into the fascinating world of frogs, with a lively introduction to eight common species and the sounds, habitats and features that make each one unique.

Created as an engaging education resource, the book combines striking visuals with accessible information to spark curiosity in classrooms and beyond. Alongside species profiles, readers can explore frog ecology, life cycles, threats to frog populations and the conservation efforts helping protect these important wetland residents.

Getting the book and classroom support

All ACT primary schools were due to receive The Great Frog Choir for their library by March 2026, making it easier for teachers and students to access this locally relevant resource and build frog-focused learning into the school year.

For early childhood, secondary and college educators, home-schooling families, and frog-loving community members outside ACT primary schools, copies can also be arranged through FrogWatch, extending the book’s reach well beyond the classroom.

Educators can also access a teacher’s guide to support cross-curricular learning through literacy, numeracy, science, music, drama and the arts.

Designed to be flexible, the supporting resources help teachers adapt activities to different year levels and learning needs, while encouraging both scientific inquiry and creative exploration.

The book is also supported by curriculum links aligned with the Australian Curriculum and NSW Syllabus for ages 4–12.

By combining storytelling, environmental education and practical classroom connections, The Great Frog Choir offers a fresh way to help children listen more closely to nature and understand why frog conservation matters.
