How does it feel to be crowned the 2025 Junior Landcarer at the National Awards?

Proud and surprised !

How are things going at the local reserve, are the nest boxes at Post Office Hill Reserve going well?

They are going great, I have been seeing Australian owlet-nightjars, Kreffts gliders, crimson rosellas, and and late last summer a number of juvenile Brush-tailed phascogales disperse from a nesting box.

What landcare activities have you been doing recently?

Bird surveys, feral animal tracking (deer have moved in!), helping our landcare group with establishing a new walking track within the reserve to give better access for visitors, leading a bird walk for our group’s AGM.

What would you say to other kids and young people thinking about getting involved in Junior Landcare?

Get out and do it, you won’t regret it! You can meet other people with similar values and help regenerate the land down under..

What school landcare projects have you been doing? Are you still doing the guided Bird Walks and surveys?

I have been leading a few wildlife walks with students at my new school at Mount Macedon and Hanging Rock. I am planning to start some environmental clubs monitoring the school grounds using camera traps and nesting boxes.

Please feel free to share any other activities and plans for the future?

I have been doing larger trips away for wildlife photography and am planning on more. I am also planning more camera trapping surveys on the reserve for feral and local wildlife.
