We’re excited to share that the 2026 Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants have been awarded!

Delivered through a partnership between Landcare Australia and the Victorian Government’s Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, this year marks the ninth round of the Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants. In 2026, $394,305 in funding will support 102 inspiring projects that help young people learn about and take action for Victoria’s incredible biodiversity.

Thank you to everyone who applied. We were impressed by the quality and creativity of submissions, with fantastic ideas for children and young people of all ages. Here are just a few of the wonderful projects that were successful…

Bruce’s Creek Junior Landcare Project

Upper Plenty Primary School students will be working hard to restoring Bruce’s Creek by replanting the Indigenous species that once grew there and expanding habitat for local wildlife. From nest box checks to frog and waterbug surveys, the creek corridor will become a thriving outdoor learning space.

Where Play Meets Nature: Creating a Living Biodiversity Trail

Epsom Primary School will turn an underused corner into a living Biodiversity Habitat Trail woven through a new play space. With 600 native plants, students will learn through play while creating real habitat for local wildlife.

Scales, Scat & Survival: A Section-Based Biodiversity Series

Scales, Scat & Survival delivers a five-phase biodiversity series where Scouts learn by doing – through hands-on sessions, youth-led activities and overnight adventures. Each age section will build practical skills to understand and protect local wildlife.

Caring for Country: Students Restoring Native Habitat

Iona College students will start with expert-led biodiversity surveys, then act on the findings by planting pollinator-friendly gardens and installing nest boxes. It’s a practical, student-driven approach to restoring native habitat on campus.

These projects will help young Victorians get hands-on with biodiversity projects and learning activities in their local communities. The grants support the objectives of the Victorian Government’s Protecting Victoria’s Environment – Biodiversity 2037 plan, which aims to stop the decline of native plants and animals and strengthen the health of our natural environment.
