Growing the next generation of environmental champions!

In 2024, Woolworths partnered with Junior Landcare to deliver a sixth round of the popular Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants program, reaching – and passing – the milestone of 5,000 projects funded across Australia!

Open to primary schools and early learning centres across Australia, the grants provide children with the opportunity to get hands-on with nature and play an active role in caring for the natural environment.

This year, a total of 1041 projects were awarded grants of up to $1,000 each that are set to engage close to 100,000 children in sustainable food production, tackling waste issues, enhancing biodiversity or learning about First Nations perspectives.

With 88% of projects incorporating a wellbeing focus, the Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants program encourages kids to get outdoors and connect with their local environment. From projects like Nambour Community Preschool & Kindergarten’s edible bush tucker garden, Manning Valley Anglican College’s food garden to reduce waste, and Wendouree Primary School’s biodiversity initiative for the critically endangered Swift Parrot.

The grant program is also supported by the Junior Landcare Learning Centre, an online platform supported by Woolworths, packed with free learning activities and educational resources with step-by-step instructions, curriculum links, instructional videos, and educator notes.

Since launching in 2018, and including this grant round, the Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants has now provided more than $6 million in funding to support 5,955 projects, helping over 450,000 children to learn more about the natural environment, and the important role they can play.
