CASE STUDY
Pollinator’s Paradise begins at local early learning centre!

Age Groups: 0-7 | 7-13

Grant Name: 2022 Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants

School: Community Kids Kadina

Grant Sponsor: Woolworths

Project Overview:

Early learning facility Community Kids Kadina has received a Woolworths Junior Landcare grant for its Pollinator's Paradise garden project!

The idea for the project began after the centre adopted Buzby the Bee as part of its pet adoption project in 2021. With Buzby now settled in, and a butterfly about to join the community Kids Kadina family, the children and team decided the two pollinators needed a garden to pollinate.

"The aim is to create the Pollinator's Paradise using flora native to our area," Christine Bailey said.

"Children will be able to see these remarkable creatures in action as they help with the pollination of plants and community vegetable garden."

Continuing the sustainability theme, the centre's children and team are also collecting tags for the Bread Tags for Wheelchairs program, plus running a community book swap project and encouraging families to use the centre's communal pantry.

Environmental and Educational Outcomes:

"By embedding sustainability practices, we can educate our children, families, and our community about environmental issues and take responsibility for our actions as we work together to contribute to a more sustainable future," Miss Bailey said.

Conclusion:

"We are committed to helping grow our next generation of environmental champions."
