Two hundred schools in Victoria will benefit from funding under the Powerful Youth Projects funded by Momentum Energy through its partnership with Junior Landcare.
The new program, launched this week, is offering 200 $1,000 grants for projects that involve young people playing an active role in caring for and learning about their natural environment. All Victorian schools, childcare centres and youth groups are eligible to apply for a grant until applications close on 12 April.
The program will support a diverse range of projects, including vegetable or bush tucker gardens, composting and recycling activities, and sensory gardens. All projects will help young people play an active role in ensuring the safe future of our environment.
Managing Director, Paul Geason from Momentum Energy, is looking forward to seeing what great ideas come in from schools across the state.
“At Momentum Energy, we recognise that supporting communities to actively care for the land paves the way to a sustainable future. This is why we partnered with Junior Landcare to run the Powerful Youth
Projects, and I look forward to seeing hundreds of children across the state getting their hands dirty and getting involved in learning more about caring for the future of our natural environment.”
Landcare Australia CEO, Tessa Jakszewicz, is delighted with the injection of funds into Junior Landcare projects in Victoria.
“Supporting children from a young age to get involved in environmental projects is hugely important to create awareness of environmental issues, knowledge about where our food comes from, and how we can
care for our natural environment. That is why partnerships and programs like the Powerful Youth Projects are so important. We’re delighted to be working with Momentum Energy in supporting 200 projects across Victoria and can’t wait to see the results.”
Momentum Energy is a 100% Australian-owned and operated energy retailer. It is owned by Hydro Tasmania, Australia’s largest generator of renewable energy – generating hydro and wind power.
