On 3 September, to kick-off Landcare Week, the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, Lily D’Ambrosio announced $413,115 funding to 109 projects from the 2018 Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants.

At a visit to Eltham Woods Preschool, the Minister said this new initiative, delivered in partnership with Landcare Australia, will enable and encourage the next generation of young people in valuing and actively caring for Victoria’s natural environment.

The grants, of up to $5,000 each (excl GST) will support Victorian primary and secondary schools, kindergartens, preschools, childcare centres, scouts and guides and other youth groups, including specialist schools and groups working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities. These grants are one of multiple initiatives that support Biodiversity 2037, Victoria’s plan to stop the decline of our native plants and animals and improve our natural environment so it is healthy, valued and actively cared for.
