They are using their funding to enhance the school’s vegetable, bush tucker and native gardens, including having students gain hands-on learning experience in propagating plants from seeds, cuttings and seedlings. With their Bee Bonus, the school will purchase natives bees and a hive endemic to North Stradbroke Island.

Congratulations to the 1,609 primary schools and early learning centres across Australia that are receiving 2021 Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants.

This is the largest number of Junior Landcare Grants ever given out in a single round.

Open to primary schools and early learning centres, Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants aim to inspire kids with hands-on projects focusing on sustainable food production, improving waste management practices and enhancing native habitats.

With a massive number of high calibre applications received, Woolworths is generously funding over 1,600 grant projects of up to $1,000 each. Since bees and pollinators are so important to our environment, this year, applicants were offered extra funding for projects that support bees. More than 1,000 projects are also receiving up to $500 for a Bee Bonus.

Combined with the 2018 and 2019 Grant rounds, a total of 2,724 schools and early learning centres across the country have received Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants.   This means that more than 200,000 Australian students are getting hands-on in caring for the environment, helping grow the next generation of environmental champions

Woolworths General Manager Community, Peter O’Sullivan said, “Our Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants will help schools create and maintain projects that grow the younger generation’s understanding of the importance of protecting our environment.”

The Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants program is funded with a 10c contribution from each sale of the Woolworths Bag for Good at full price. Bag for Good was launched in 2018 when Woolworths went single-use plastic bag free.
