2020 Lendlease Junior Landcare Grants

Twelve primary and high schools in Queensland and Western Australian (see list below) were recipients of the first Lendlease Junior Landcare Grants, totalling nearly $60,000. The goal of this grants program is to support the next generation of environmental and community leaders through fostering relationships with youth, the local community and Indigenous champions to drive greater environmental and social outcomes in communities where Lendlease has a presence.
Lendlease has partnered with Landcare Australia to raise environmental awareness with young members of the community, creating strong advocates for the future.
In October 2020, grants of up to $5,000 each were awarded for environmental projects focussing on biodiversity, food production, Indigenous perspectives, waste management or a combination of these.
Many of the grant recipients implemented projects that encompass Indigenous perspectives, including several bush tucker gardens, complimented by yarning circles. Other projects included a fruit and vegetable garden, a revegetation project, waste management and planting native plants to create an outdoor learning centre.
All the projects focussed on creating positive environmental and social outcomes. Congratulations to the recipients of these first Lendlease Junior Landcare Grants.
Below is a case study about one of the Western Australian projects and another case study sharing the positive outcomes from a far North Queensland school.
